Instagram Fixes A Bug That Makes Video Editing Functions On IPhone Not Perfect
JAKARTA - Instagram says it doesn't intentionally try to stop filmmakers or videos on its app and then export their videos to other platforms like TikTok.
The Verge reported this week that sound isn't showing from video clips exported from Instagram's Reel edit screen for iPhone users, meaning you'll need to publish Reel fully to save it properly.
Now, the owner of Instagram, Meta, says that this is a bug and intends to fix the problem.
“Due to a bug, the Reels download feature is not working properly for iOS users and in some cases, audio is lost in downloads. We are currently working to fix this issue as soon as possible,” Seine Kim, a spokesperson for Meta, said in an email to The Verge.
This fix is important for content creators who prefer to edit beyond TikTok's basic editing screen. Instagram Reels' download feature is a useful way to add filters, such as green screen, to footage you plan to use in other apps.
While Meta intends to fix this bug, the short-form video platform is taking a lot of other shots in an attempt to get some attention on their platform.
YouTube Shorts now flags videos as exported, and Instagram previously said it would reduce distribution of videos originating from other platforms. Plus, it's only a matter of time until Instagram's TikTok-esque features return.
