Ex-Napiter And Terrorist Victims Will Be Meet By BNPT

JAKARTA - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) has prepared a draft regulation regarding the reconciliation of victims and ex-convicts of terrorism (convicts) which is planned to be ratified by the end of 2022. This was conveyed by the Head of BNPT Komjen Boy Rafli Amar in Jakarta, Sunday, August 21.

"To set up a safe mechanism and prioritize the best interests of the survivors, BNPT is currently drafting a BNPT regulation on the reconciliation of victims and ex-convicts of terrorism," Boy said at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Sunday.

He said the national gathering, which brought together terrorism survivors with former terrorism convicts, was a reintegration process to look at the future more optimistically and together prevent terrorism crimes from happening again.

"United, collaborate, synergize, eliminate past traumas; and what exists is the spirit of brotherhood, the spirit to build a life full of love and compassion. There is no hatred for one another," Boy explained.

Although the program is not an easy matter to implement, he continued, BNPT has successfully implemented it three times in 2018, 2021, and 2022. Moreover, he added, President Joko Widodo in particular also gave directions so that victims of terrorism and ex-convicts could be brought together for reconciliation. .

"So, the reconciliation of survivors with ex-convicts does not seem to exist in the world, but we have already started," he said.

The program will also continue to be developed in accordance with Presidential Regulation (Pepres) Number 7 of 2021 concerning Action Plans for Combating Violent Extremism.

In addition to the national gathering that brings together terrorism survivors and former terrorism convicts, Boy said that his party also held other programs in the economic field, namely the Forum for Conscience of Conscience to Promote the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia or Warung NKRI.

In addition, there is also an effort to develop an Integrated Archipelago Area that prioritizes a welfare approach for deradicalization partners, survivors, and the community.

"In addition to supporting social reintegration for deradicalization partners and survivors to run well in the community, this is done in an effort to improve the quality of Indonesian people in building a productive, equitable and competitive economic structure in accordance with the mission of Advanced Indonesia," he added.

In addition, the BNPT and the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) provide medical, psychosocial, psychological assistance, to the distribution of compensation and compensation to terrorism survivors.

He also hopes that the International Day for Commemoration and Respect for Victims of Terrorism, which is celebrated every August 21, can remind the public of terrorism crimes that are against the values of humanity and the state.

"It is not only a reminder of past events, but also encourages us to create peace and jointly provide support for those affected by acts of terrorism," said Boy.
