COVID-19 Update As Of 17 August: 5,253 New Cases, 2,404 From DKI Jakarta

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 85,180 specimens were examined with the result of 5,253 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,297,484 people and active cases have increased by 910 to 53,132," said Ministry of Health data, Wednesday, August 17.

Today's recovered cases increased by 4,324 cases, bringing the total to 6,087,056 people recovered. Then, there were 19 positive confirmed deaths and a total of 157,296 people. The province with the highest new cases was DKI Jakarta with 2,404 cases and a total of 1,369,477 cases. Followed by West Java with 1,071 new cases with a total of 1,153,516 cases. Banten has 654 new cases and a total of 322,811 cases. Then, East Java with 388 new cases and a total of 592,523 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 2,141 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 930 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 408 recovered cases, and Banten with an additional 394 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 105,499,887.

"Positive results per number of people tested or this week's positivity rate of 10 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspected cases is 5,163 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 203,027,594 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 170,549,667. people underwent a second dose of vaccination.

While the third dose of vaccination was 58,903,239 and the fourth dose was 271,246. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
