JAKARTA - Nederlandsche-Indie or the Dutch East Indies. The government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands used this name during the colonial period. Indunesians, this name appeared in the journal article On The Leading Characteristics of The Papuan Australian and Malay Polynesia Nations George Samuel Windor Earl England in 1850. Indonesia as a student of Windor Earl James Ricahardson Logan Scotland replaced U with O in his journal article The Ethnology of The India Archipelago 1850. In Indonesia, this term was coined by German scientist Adolf Bastian in an article in the Indonesian journal Order Die Inseln Des Malayischen Archipels 1884. The name was used by the natives, published in an independent Indonesian newspaper belonging to the Vereeniging organization which was converted into an Indonesian association in 1925. Then it was used nationally as the Pledge of Youth Pledge. October 28, 1928, one homeland, one nation and one Indonesian language.
