Follow-up Floods Hit Torue Parigi Moutong Village, BPBD Evacuates Residents To Safe Places

SULTENG - Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Parigi Moutong, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng), carried out an evacuation effort for residents in Torue Village to a safe place trapped by the flood. "In addition to being evacuated, they also evacuated themselves independently to a safer place to avoid the impact caused by flooding," said Head of BPBD Parigi Moutong Idran when contacted on Sunday, August 14. He revealed that the flood hit Torue Village at 13.30 WITA which submerged Hamlet 2, Hamlet 3 and Hamlet 5, it was confirmed that the affected residents had been evacuated. Residents were settled due to heavy rains in the area, and it was confirmed that there were no casualties.

It was reported that up to 15:00 WITA, the flood had begun to recede and the Trans Sulawesi route was flooded and vehicles could pass through it, but houses were still submerged in mud carried by the current. "The submerged settlements will be cleaned again of mud material. Currently our team is conducting a field survey," said Idran.

According to weather early warning information issued by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class II Meteorological Station Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Palu, today until tomorrow seven areas in Central Sulawesi are on alert for heavy rain, including Sigi Regency, North Morowali, Tojo Una-una, Buol, Poso and Tolitoli, including Parigi Moutong Regency. "We urge residents not to panic, because excessive panic can actually harm themselves," he said.
