Ondel-ondel Parade, Ojeks And Angkots Enliven Labor Party Registration At KPU Today

JAKARTA - The working class carnival is held by the Labor Party when registering itself as a political party participating in the 2024 General Election on the 12th day to the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU), Jakarta, Friday, August 12.

The group arrived in front of the gates of the KPU RI office at around 11.30 WIB after the long march from the Proclamation Monument, Central Jakarta.

"The procession was enlivened by marawis, ondel-ondel, vegetable carts, motorcycle taxis, and city transportation (angkot)," said Antara.

Meanwhile, the command truck gave directions through loudspeakers to a group of thousands of people. There were also fireworks that enlivened the carnival.

Several small trucks also accompanied the group with banners, among others, that read #partaiburuh #classworker #labormenang #prosperous country. The majority of the group wore orange T-shirts with the party's name printed on them while waving the Labor Party flag.

A number of others wore their respective daily work uniforms, even some other representatives seemed to be wearing traditional clothes from several regions of Indonesia.

Furthermore, the Labor Party entourage held Friday prayers in congregation in front of the RI KPU Building. Around 50 representatives of the Labor Party management entered the KPU building yard.

Earlier, on Thursday, August 11, Labor Party President Said Iqbal said that as many as 10,000 took part in the working class carnival. They come from various professional backgrounds, ranging from farm laborers, fishermen, traders, temporary workers, urban poor, domestic workers (PRT), online motorcycle taxis, migrant workers, disabled workers, traders, advocates, to students.

The KPU has opened registration for the 2024 General Election participants from August 1 to 14, 2022. As of Thursday (11/8) there have been 23 political parties that have registered as participants in the 2024 Election at the Indonesian KPU.
