Couldn't Control Fire When Opening Gardens, 5 Hectares Of Land In Bukit Sinduk Burned, Lucky To Be Tamed By Officers

KALBAR - The joint team succeeded in extinguishing forest and land fires (karhutla) in Bukit Sinduk, Senunuk Village, Batang Lupar District, the RI-Malaysia border area, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan.

"There are about five hectares of Bukit Sinduk land that were burned, due to the burning of agricultural land by local residents, so the fire spread," said Head of the Kapuas Hulu Regional Disaster Management Agency, Gunawan, in Putussibau Kapuas Hulu, Antara, Thursday, August 11.

Gunawan said that the land fire incident occurred last Wednesday at around 15.00 WIB when residents burned their fields and could not control it. As a result, the fire grew and spread to other vacant lands into the night. To deal with the fire incident, the sub-district Karhutla Task Force Team immediately moved to extinguish it.

"The fire was extinguished at around 19:00 WIB, that same night," he said.

Gunawan said that the district Karhutla Task Force Team was actually ready and wanted to help extinguish the fire at the scene, but the sub-district team was able to handle it.

"So based on the sub-district head's report, the fire was immediately extinguished that same night," he said.

Gunawan also appealed to the entire community to always be vigilant and careful in anticipating the occurrence of forest and land fires.

He also invited all cultivating communities to be more careful and report to officers if they wanted to burn land, this was aimed at preventing forest and land fires.
