ITF Sunter And JIS Construction Sites Are Nearby, DPRD Worried About Traffic Chaos
JAKARTA - Secretary of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Yusuf highlighted the location for the construction of the Sunter Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF) which is adjacent to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).
Yusuf asked the BUMD PT Jakpro to review the Sunter ITF site, which is currently not under construction.
This is because Yusuf is worried about traffic disturbances when the waste management activities at Sunter ITF operate, along with the event being held at JIS.
"In this review, we want to know how the ITF construction is suitable for use and also the traffic when JIS has an event. Does it interfere with transportation or not when throwing garbage into the ITF," said Yusuf in his statement, Thursday, August 11.
On that occasion, Yusuf also hoped that ITF Sunter would be able to solve Jakarta's waste management problems and be able to process the resulting residue effectively to be useful.
"If possible, at the time of the ITF, the residue can be made of bricks or paving blocks that can be used to build DKI Jakarta," said Yusuf.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Jakarta Solusi Lestari (JSL) Iwan Takwim as a subsidiary of PT Jakpro in charge of Sunter ITF said he was following up on a number of recommendations from Commission C of the DKI DPRD.
"Of course it's positive for us and it's our homework to make sure for the next meeting to be more detailed. It's not just the construction that is being prepared, but what kind of operation will it be later on," explained Iwan.
Furthermore, Iwan targets the ITF project to be completed in three years, namely in 2025. He hopes that the ITF will not only be used as waste management, but can provide positive benefits.
“Not only waste management but also other uses such as generating electricity for the people of Jakarta. Of course, it will be executed immediately by maintaining proper governance,” he added.
