Jakarta Coastal Residents Asked To Beware Of Rob Floods This Week
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has asked residents who live in coastal areas of Jakarta to be aware of coastal flooding or rob during this week.
This tidal flood is predicted to occur from 7 to 13 August 2022 at 18.00 to 23.00 WIB.
In a statement, the DKI BPBD said the areas potentially affected by tidal flooding were Pademangan, Penjaringan, Sunda Kelapa Harbor, Marunda, and the Thousand Islands Regency.
"The coastal areas of DKI Jakarta in Pademangan, Penjaringan, Sunda Kelapa Harbor, Marunda and the Thousand Islands are urged to be alert to an increase in the maximum tidal height that has the potential to cause coastal flooding," wrote the Instagram account bbpddkijakarta, quoted on Wednesday, August 10.
DKI Jakarta BPBD explained, in the period in question, the earth entered the phase of entering the full moon phase which coincided with Perigee or the closest distance of the moon to the earth.
This phenomenon has the potential to cause an increase in the maximum tidal height and make land areas affected by tidal flooding.
Furthermore, DKI Jakarta BPBD appealed to the public to monitor the latest information on sea waves on the bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut page.
"If you find an emergency that requires help, immediately contact the Jakarta Alert 112 Call Center," he said.
