Police Reveal The Role Of Nine Terror Suspects In House Destruction And Burning Of Vehicles In Mulyorejo Village, Jember

JEMBER - Jember Police Chief AKBP Hery Purnomo revealed the role of nine terror-related suspects in two hamlets of Mulyorejo Village, Silo Sub-district, Jember Regency. The nine suspects are residents from Kalibaru, Banyuwangi Regency.

"They are all residents of Banyuwangi, and each has a different role," said Hery, Monday, August 8.

The first suspect is the initials J, 55, a resident from Kalibaru District, Banyuwangi. Perpetrator J played a role in provoking residents to burn and destroy the victim's house in Baban Timur Hamlet, Jember.

Then the suspects S, 39, M, 35, W, 39, S, 51, all of whom are residents of Kalibaru Subdistrict, Banyuwangi and M, 42, from Sokobanah, Sampang, Madura, who lives in Banyuwangi. "These five suspects played a role in burning and destroying residents' houses," he said.

Meanwhile, suspect A, 54, MS, 37, is a resident of Kalibaru, Banyuwangi Regency. Both of them played a role in burning motorbikes and cars belonging to residents. Meanwhile, the suspect with the initials G, 39, from Kalibaru, Banyuwangi played a role in looting gasoline at the kiosk of one of the residents' houses.

As a result of his actions, nine suspects were charged with multiple articles, namely Article 187 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55, 56 of the Criminal Code and or Article 170 paragraph 1e of the Criminal Code, and or Article 365 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Articles 64, 65 of the Criminal Code. "The nine suspects face a maximum prison sentence of 12 years in prison," he said.

Previously, riots were carried out by a group of people who burned down several houses, two- and four-wheeled vehicles, and looted tens of millions of rupiah belonging to the residents of Dusun Baban Timur.

This happened four times from July to August 4, 2022. Based on police data, arson occurred in six different locations during July-August 2022, causing four houses to be damaged, one garage, and a shop to be damaged.

Then three cars and 19 two-wheeled vehicles were also burned.
