Revenue Reaches IDR 11.7 Trillion, KAI Prints IDR 740 Billion Net Profit In Six Months: Soars By 254 Percent
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded a good achievement by successfully posting a net profit in the first semester of 2022 of IDR 740 billion. This record grew by 254 percent compared to the first semester of 2021, which was IDR 480 billion.
"KAI is starting to record positive results in line with the recovery of national economic conditions, one of which is marked by the growth of the public transportation market, after the opening of various mobility restrictions by the government," said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo in a statement quoted by Antara, Monday, August 8.
In addition to the achievement of the increase in profit, KAI also continued to record a positive EBITDA performance of IDR 2.08 trillion or a significant growth compared to the semester I-2021 period of IDR 548 billion.
According to him, this has had a very good impact where KAI was able to generate revenue of IDR 11.7 trillion or grew 58 percent compared to semester I-2021 of IDR 7.4 trillion.
The increase in revenue was in line with the increase in the volume of passenger and freight transportation. In passenger transportation, the volume of train customers in the first semester of 2022 increased by 42 percent compared to the same period the previous year.

Meanwhile, in 2022 there will be 119.8 million subscribers, while in 2021 there will be 84.1 million subscribers.
Meanwhile, passenger transportation revenue in the first semester of 2022 grew 154 percent when compared to the same period the previous year, namely in 2022 of IDR 2.8 trillion, while in 2021 it was IDR 1.1 trillion.
In terms of freight transportation, the volume of freight transportation in semester I-2022 increased by 15 percent compared to the same period the previous year, namely in 2022 as much as 26.7 million tons, while in 2021 it was 23.2 million tons.
As for its revenue, freight transportation has grown by 27 percent, namely in 2022 of IDR 4.2 trillion, while in 2021 it is IDR 3.4 trillion.
"The two main business segments of KAI still make a significant contribution to KAI's performance in the first half of 2022," said Didiek.
Furthermore, KAI will continue to increase revenue in the passenger transportation sector by implementing strict health protocol discipline. This is to assure the public that train travel is safe, comfortable, and healthy.
To help complete travel requirements, KAI has also provided stations that serve COVID-19 tests and free vaccinations.
"This profit growth and revenue increase are in line with the strategies, hopes and aspirations of shareholders who want the company to survive and become stronger in the midst of the health and economic crisis caused by COVID-19," concluded Didiek.
