Labuan Bajo Immigration Descends Mountains To Remote Manggarai, Absorbs 80 Passport Applicants For 3 Days
NTT - As many as 80 applicants in Mbaumuku Village, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, took advantage of the momentum of the Village Entry Passport program to make passports within 3 days.
"As of the last day yesterday, Sunday (August 7), there were a total of 80 applicants," said Head of Immigration Labuan Bajo Jaya Mahendra from Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, quoted from Antara, Monday, August 8.
He said the purposes of the applicants for making passports were varied, ranging from travel, treatment, to making work visits abroad.
Jaya said that the passport entry to the village lasted for 3 days starting from Friday 5 August to Sunday 7 August.
The activity, according to him, received a good response from the local community because the residents felt it was helped by the program.
"We chose Manggarai Regency because many applicants who applied for passports came from Manggarai," he said.
The activity was in order to welcome the 77th Dharma Karya Dhika Day in 2022. Not only for those who want to make a new passport, according to him, but also serve the replacement of expired passports.
In making their own passports, he said, residents who want to have passports are interviewed first and biometrics are taken.
Labuan Bajo Immigration also does not work alone. It synergizes with the Post Office in terms of payment and passport collection so that it can make it easier for applicants who are domiciled in Manggarai Regency.
Head of the Traffic and Immigration Stay Permit Subsection Argayuna Nur Indrawan said, “From Manggarai to West Manggarai it is very far, it takes 4 hours of traveling by winding roads.
Argayuna said that his party is working with the Post Office so that applicants can pick up their passports at the Manggarai Regency Post Office, or do not have to go all the way to Labuan Bajo.
