Lebak Holds Gotong Royong Jambanization Program

JAKARTA - The Lebak Regency Government, Banten is running a mutual cooperation latrine program to improve sanitation in order to reduce stunting, chronic malnutrition that causes children's growth to be disrupted so that their bodies become tengkes.
The Head of Public Health of the Lebak Regency Office, Nurul Isneini, explained that the mutual latrine program launched in July 2022 is a program to provide healthy latrines in a mutual cooperation manner by involving donors, health centers, and the community.
In this case, according to him, donations from donors will be managed by the community with assistance from the puskesmas to build healthy latrines for residents in need.
"It is distributed to residents who do not have latrines," said Nurul Isneini, Friday, August 5.
The provision of healthy latrines and adequate sanitation facilities is very important in an effort to reduce the number of stunting cases. Children who grow up in environments with poor sanitation are more at risk of developing diseases and health problems that can stunt growth.
Therefore, Nurul said, the local government is trying to help every family have a healthy latrine and clean water supply facilities.
Meanwhile, Head of the Cisimeut Health Center, Dede Hardiansyah, said that the puskesmas had distributed healthy latrine assistance to six families through the mutual latrine program.
"We distribute these latrines to families who do not have latrines so that they can enjoy healthy and proper latrines," he said as quoted by Antara.
