3 Classrooms At SDN Beleka Central Lombok Were Badly Damaged, Students Were Forced To Study In The Library

PRAYA - Three classrooms at the Beleka State Elementary School (SDN), East Praya District, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province were badly damaged. Students are forced to study in the library.

"Of the six classrooms, three rooms are in a damaged condition, including the teacher's room," said the Principal of SDN Beleka Sukarman at his office in Praya, Antara, Thursday, August 4.

The three classrooms have been damaged since the earthquake in 2018 last year so that the top of the classroom almost collapsed. In addition, the ceiling of the room has also been damaged, so that the learning process is quite disrupted.

"If we use it, we are worried. We are afraid of collapsing, so we don't use it for studying," he said.

The renovation of the classrooms was carried out in 2009, but not for the construction of walls, but for the construction of the roof, so that the current condition of the building is damaged.

"Of the three classrooms that were damaged, one was quite badly damaged, two were slightly damaged. The number of students was 90 from grade 1 to grade VI," he said.

For that, he hopes the local government to immediately repair the damaged classrooms, because the school building is an old building.

"Once a consultant came, it will be repaired in 2020. However, until now it has not been realized," he said.

The head of the Beleka Elementary School Committee, Justadi, as the parents and guardians of the students, hopes that the government immediately repairs the classroom so that there are no victims when it is used for studying.

"Other schools have pretty good buildings. We hope this school will also be repaired," he said.

Previously, the Head of the Basic Education Division of the Central Lombok Education Office, Makbul, said that the number of schools damaged, both heavily and lightly in Central Lombok, reached 120 schools out of 625 public and private schools.

The repair of the damaged school is carried out in stages, according to the budget and conditions of the school.

"Improvements are carried out in stages," he said.

To resolve the damaged school facilities and infrastructure, it must be done globally. However, the budget conditions do not allow it, so it must be implemented gradually.

"The government's budget is still limited, so the improvements will be carried out in stages," he said.
