Business Prospects Get Brighter, Mitsubishi And Toyota Compact Increase Investment In Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that two automotive giants in the State of Sakura, namely Mitsubishi and Toyota, agreed to increase their capital in Indonesia. This was conveyed by the Minister of Industry after his visit to Japan this week.
"We have succeeded in keeping the commitment of automotive companies to continue to increase investment in Indonesia," said the Minister of Industry in his statement.
According to him, from the results of a meeting with the leaders of automotive companies in Japan, an investment commitment from the Mitsubishi Motor Company (MMC) of IDR 10 trillion was obtained which will be realized from 2022 to 2025.
Furthermore, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) will add an investment of IDR 27.1 trillion for the next five years (2022-2026). Thus, from the pair of corporations, a total of IDR 37.1 trillion of capital will be invested in the country.
"Mitsubishi continues to realize its commitment to make Indonesia a production base for hybrid cars and increase export markets, including expanding new export markets, from 30 to 39 countries, until 2024," said the Minister of Industry in Jakarta, Friday (29/7). .
The Indonesian government itself appreciates and supports the realization of this commitment, and conveys several hopes to Mitsubishi, among others, to accelerate the production program of battery-based KBL technology vehicles or EV keycars in Indonesia. In addition, it is expected to continue to export SUV-type vehicles from Indonesia to the Australian market within the next one year.
As for Toyota, the Minister of Industry expressed hope that the manufacturer would support efforts to increase the use of local Indonesian components.
"We also ask these industry players to increase the use of local Indonesian components, especially components from small and medium industries (IKM). We also conveyed this at the automotive industry business forum in Japan, last June," concluded the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang.
