His Name Is Jonathan Libazkiel, SIDH Student Who Wins In The W4 Kangoeroe 2022 Mathematics Competition In The Netherlands
JAKARTA - Indonesian School of Den Haag (SIDH) student Jonathan Libazkiel Sinurat won the W4 Kangoeroe national math competition in the Netherlands 2022.
"Jonathan Libazkiel Sinurat, a grade 10 student at SIDH, won 1st place at the wizPROF level competing with 3,677 participants at that level," quoted from a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague received in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, July 28.
The W4Kangoeroe competition itself consists of 6 levels of difficulty (wizFUN, wizKID, wizSMART, wizBRAIN, wizPROF, and wizEXPERT) and this year was attended by a total of 85,638 participants representing 1,901 schools in the Netherlands ranging from elementary school, high school, to higher education.
The W4Kangoeroe Competition (WereldWijde Wiskundewedstrijd Kangoeroe) is a popular mathematics competition in the Netherlands and is held annually with the aim of fostering curiosity and love of school students in mathematics.
This competition from Australia has been held in the Netherlands by Stichting Wiskunde Kangoeroe (Kangoeroe Mathematical Foundation) regularly since 1995.
In the midst of the pandemic situation, this year's W4Kangoeroe competition was held online and offline in March 2022 and the full results were only published in July 2022.
The announcement of the results of the W4 Kangoeroe competition was delivered by the Principal of SIDH, Herman Tahir at the student graduation ceremony in 2022.
The Deputy Ambassador of the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague, Freddy Martin Panggabean, representing the organizers gave medals and prizes to Jonathan as the 1st place winner.
In his remarks, Freddy hoped that this proud achievement can be maintained and improved as proof that Indonesian overseas school students are not less competitive with local students in accredited countries.
The Indonesian School of the Hague (SIDH) is one of the Indonesian Overseas Schools (SILN) under the auspices of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture and the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague.
