PSI Politician Surya Tjandra Supports Anies To Be Presidential Candidate 2024: He Can Work
JAKARTA - PSI politician Surya Tjandra has publicly stated that he supports DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election.
The former Deputy Minister of ATR/BPN explained that he supported Anies because he saw Anies' performance was quite good during his leadership in Jakarta. He saw this during his tenure as deputy minister.
"Indeed I see Pak Anies being able to work. Pak Anies is quite prominent in terms of his work, at least in terms of the agrarian and spatial planning that I run," Surya said when contacted, Friday, July 29.
Surya gave an example, Anies' work that appears in the land sector is executing President Joko Widodo's program, namely the Complete System Land Registration (PTSL). In fact, Anies donated the APBD amounting to Rp80 billion to the DKI Jakarta BPN Regional Office.
"What's interesting is that Mr. Anies donated Rp80 billion to implement this to the DKI Regional Office BPN and what is special is that DKI has a large budget. I think this is important because if it can be escalated nationally, that would be extraordinary," explained Surya.
"This is also what I saw him working. I don't use this work or who is his political opponent," he continued.
Surya Tjandra is aware that his political stance is inversely proportional to his own party, which has already stated that it will not support Anies in the 2024 political contestation. However, he feels the decision is an individual right.
"This is a personal choice and I think it's important to look at the presidential candidates not only on sentiments but also on the facts of how they work and so far so that there is the right combination," said Surya.
Surya Tjandra admitted that he still wanted to be a party cadre led by Giring Ganesha. Regarding differences in political attitudes, he left it entirely to the PSI Party Leadership Council.
"My position now, I leave it to the DPP, lah. Whatever the decision I will respect and hope for the best. This will mature us all," he added.
