COVID-19 Cases Soaring In Bali, This Is What Deputy Governor Cok Ace Says
BADUNG - Positive cases of COVID-19 on the island of Bali jumped to 222 people on Thursday, July 28. The Deputy Governor of Bali, Tjok Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati or Cok Ace, claimed that the high number of cases was not due to a new variant of the centaur subvariant aka BA.2.75.
"In Bali there is one (case) and it doesn't develop. However, this last variant has a very fast crossing but the risk factor is low," said Deputy Governor Cok Ace when met in Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Friday, July 29.
According to him, COVID-19 cases in Bali are starting to rise because of tourists entering the island of Bali. The tourist was found to be positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Bali
However, it is called Cok Ace, people who are exposed to COVID-19 are mostly asymptomatic people (OTG).
"That's why they generally get caught here, because they already have a hotel and they are all OTG. So mostly they isolate themselves in the hotel," he said.

Previously, the Director of Post-graduate Program at YARSI University, Prof. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, appealed to the public to be aware of the trend of increasing cases and deaths due to COVID-19 in Indonesia.
"There have always been less than ten people who died in our country since June 2022, but in recent days not only have the daily cases been above 6.000 people, but the number of people who died has also increased to more than ten people," said Tjandra Yoga Aditama. quoted by Antara, Friday 29 July.
Based on a health perspective, said Tjandra, currently there is a tendency to increase cases and deaths from time to time which needs to be watched out for together.
As an illustration, Australia experienced the highest number of deaths from COVID-19 per day on January 28, 2022, which was 155 people. "In the present Omicron era, there has been another high increase in mortality," he said.
Tjandra, who is also a health scientist from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, said that on July 27, 2022, the number of deaths in Australia was 126 people per day, already approaching the peak of the last death.
Meanwhile in Japan, said Tjandra, the highest daily new cases were on February 5, 2022, recording 102.775 people. But in the current Omicron era, on July 27, 2022, the new cases have reached 209.694 people.
"The number is double the peak cases that Japan has experienced so far," he said.
