It Is Important To Note, The New Vehicle Output Is Not Designed For Low Octane Fuel
JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) reminds that the latest vehicles produced since 2018 are not designed for low RON fuel.
The reason is, according to government regulations that all four-wheeled vehicles must apply the EURO-4 exhaust emission standard.
General Secretary of Gaikindo, Kukuh Kumara said, in addition to the engine adapted for EURO-4, the fuel used must have a high octane level, such as the Pertamax Series.
"Since then, the engines of all vehicles must meet the EURO-4 exhaust emission standard. In order to produce exhaust emissions according to EURO-4, the fuel must also comply with the EURO-4 standard," said Kukuh, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 29. .
Since 2018, Kukuh continued, the government has implemented exhaust emission standards for all four-wheeled vehicles.
The regulation applies to all types of vehicles, including the Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) or economical and environmentally friendly vehicles.
With this policy, according to Kukuh, the entire national automotive industry also has the obligation to produce cars with the EURO-4 standard, as a step to support government policies.
The EURO-4 emission standard is regulated by Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No.P. 20 of 2017 concerning Quality Standards for Exhaust Gas Emissions for Motorized Vehicles with 4 or more wheels, New Type Category M, N and O.
As stated in article 2 paragraph 1, every business and/or production activity of a new type of motorized vehicle must comply with the provisions of the EURO-4 standard for Exhaust Gas Emissions Quality Standards.
In addition to producing more environmentally friendly emissions, continued Kukuh, the use of quality fuels will certainly have a positive impact on vehicle engine performance.
By using the EURO-4 equivalent fuel, the combustion process becomes better, due to the high octane content and low sulfur level.
On the other hand, if the vehicle is forced to use fuel that does not meet the EURO-4 fuel standard, the vehicle's engine will not work optimally.
In this case, the engine will tickle, waste fuel, and all the consequences that will be caused by the vehicle engine.
"If this is not met, the engine performance will not be optimal, knocking occurs, the engine breaks down quickly, tickles, wastes, and so on. The decline in engine performance is due to incomplete combustion," he said.
