President Jokowi Visits East Asia, KSP: Indonesia A 'Sexy' Global Strategic Partner

JAKARTA - The Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin analyzed how Indonesia became a country that was well received by countries in the world as a strategic partner.

The recent invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Joko Widodo, said Ruhaini, proves that Indonesia is a very "sexy" strategic partner, not only in ASEAN and Asia, but also in the world.

“President Jokowi was invited as the first post-pandemic head of state to make a state visit to China. This is different from the invitation of the head of state for the Winter Olympics last February," said Siti Ruhaini in a written statement, Thursday, July 28.

"The direct invitation from President Xi Jinping, the warm reception of Emperor Narohito and Empress Masako and the friendly reception of South Korea reflect that Indonesia is not only a market, but also an equal partner for the three countries," he added.

President Jokowi's series of foreign visits, according to Siti, is intended to produce a reciprocal partnership in which Indonesia is certain to reap the benefits.

The professor of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta added that President Jokowi's meeting with the G7 heads of state in Germany, state visits to Russia and Ukraine, followed by visits to countries in the East Asian region (China, Japan and South Korea) emphasized Indonesia's position as a country. which consistently upholds a Free and Active Foreign Policy.

“Geographically, Indonesia is a large country with a large population. But not only that, Indonesia's large market is also supported by organic socio-political stability and strong resilience. This makes Indonesia sexy in the eyes of other countries," said Siti.

Therefore, Indonesia has also won the trust and support of world countries to carry out strategic roles such as the G20 Presidency and ASEAN Chair in 2023.
