22 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine Worth IDR 30.8 Billion Confiscated At The Central Jakarta Police

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit arrested three suspected couriers and drug dealers who were arrested in several different locations. The three suspects are known to have the initials DS, MS, and SM.

Two suspects with the initials DS and MS were arrested in the parking lot and area inside Soekarno Hatta Airport. Meanwhile, the suspect SM was arrested in the Medan area, North Sumatra.

Of the three suspects, a total of 22,890 grams of confiscated evidence of methamphetamine were packaged in 23 green plastic Chinese tea bags. If converted into rupiah, the confiscated 22,890 grams worth IDR 30.8 billion.

The Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Komarudin, stated that this arrest was part of a series of activities to uncover illicit drug trafficking that the Central Jakarta Police Narcotics Unit had previously uncovered.

"Initially, we managed to thwart the circulation of drugs weighing more than 1 kilogram. From these results, we developed it to 22 kilograms. From these two disclosures, we secured DS, MS, and SM", said Commissioner Komarudin to VOI, Wednesday, July 27.

The evidence confiscated today will be immediately destroyed as a result of coordination with the Central Jakarta District Attorney, Central Jakarta District Court, and Forensic Laboratory Center.

"Total evidence of methamphetamine is 23 plastic green Chinese tea packs with a total gross weight of 22,890 grams", he said.

The methamphetamine evidence will be destroyed using a crusher at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital.

"This is a joint effort to break the chain of drug trafficking networks which are certainly a threat to our young generation. We will continue to make various disclosures and we are still developing them", he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Drugs at the Central Jakarta Police, Commissioner Panjiyoga, added that the three suspects were still in the same network.

"(They) are still in the same network. The series is based on the disclosure of cases that we have done, we continue to analyze to develop all networks that supply goods to the Central Jakarta or DKI Jakarta area", he added.

Until now, the Drugs Unit is still conducting developments related to the arrest of three suspects.

"Until now our team is still on the move. This item from abroad enters Indonesia and will be marketed in the Jakarta area. The suspect took the item from the Aceh area, the results of our analysis and the secured packaging usually come from Malaysia", explained Commissioner Panji.

Meanwhile, from the results of his investigation, the distribution of drugs that his staff often discloses comes from sea route smuggling.

"More sea routes for the supply of methamphetamine in large quantities can reach 80 percent", he said.
