Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Asks Persis Solo Blacklist For Riot Supporters In Yogyakarta
JAKARTA - Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming asked Persis Solo management to blacklist the group of supporters involved in the riots in Sleman, Yogyakarta.
It was widely reported that a group of Persis Solo supporters were involved in a commotion with the public on Monday, July 25 yesterday. Chaos broke out when they were on their way to the Moch Soebroto Stadium, Magelang, to watch their favorite team compete.
"I ordered Persis management to be selective in ticket sales," said President Joko Widodo's son at Solo City Hall on Tuesday, July 26.
This group of supporters was previously directed to take the Selo route to Magelang, but they did not heed that instruction. Instead of following the suggested route, they took the Yogyakarta route to the match venue. They crossed the streets of Sleman all the way to Jombor, the place where the chaos occurred.
The clash did not result in any casualties, but several Persis Solo supporters were reported to have been injured. While the financial loss so far is not known.
Gibran said that so far the authorities had identified the groups that sparked the commotion. He emphasized that in the future these groups will not be facilitated by ticket games anymore.
"Maybe in the future there will be no need to give tickets again. Blacklist. But, let the management later," said Gibran.
Persis Solo played the first week of the Indonesian League 1 2022/2023 season against Dewa United. The duel of the two promoted teams was won by Dewa United with the final score, 3-2.
