Victim Of Overturned Boat In West Papua Wondama Waters Found Dead
WASIOR - One missing victim from the boat capsized accident in Sobey Waters, Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua, was found.
A joint team from Teluk Wondama Police, Basarnas, BPBD and TNI assisted by the community managed to find the victim, Udin Ferimaks Totoks, who was dead. The team found the victim after thawing and combing for approximately six hours.
The victim was found at a depth of approximately 13 meters.
"The distance is not far about 50 meters from the location where the boat capsized," said Head of the Water Police Unit (Polair) of the Teluk Wondama Police, Iptu Lasero, as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, July 24.
The bodies of the victims were then evacuated by boat belonging to residents to Sobey Harbor, Teluk Duairi District. The bodies were then transported by ambulance to Teluk Wondama Hospital in Mangurai for post-mortem and cleaning.
Udin, also known as Uto, was one of nine victims of the boat capsized accident in the waters near Sobey Village on Sunday morning.
With the discovery of Udin's body, two people died from the sea accident. One other dead victim, namely Kletus Iriyanto Said, had been successfully evacuated on Sunday morning.
The unfortunate incident began when eight people, all of whom were residents of Wasior City, along with a Sobey resident as a motorcyclist, went to sea to fish on Saturday (23/7) night.
After a while, it started to rain, so the motorist intended to start the boat engine to shift places. But suddenly the boat tilted and then overturned and threw all the passengers into the sea.
It is planned that the two victims who died who were residents from East Nusa Tenggara would be sent to their hometowns to be buried.
