An Elderly Woman Stuck In An Elevator For 2 Hours At Graha Atika Building Is Still Active As An Assessment Team
JAKARTA - An elderly woman named Ariyanti (76) was trapped in an elevator for two hours at the Graha Atika Building, Warung Buncit, South Jakarta.
Yudi Permana, a building employee, said that the incident occurred on Friday, July 22, at 11.00 WIB.
According to information, Ariyanti, who worked as an assessment team in the building, got into the elevator on the second floor to the first floor. However, when he entered, the electric hoist didn't work, so Ariyanti was trapped in the elevator.
"The appraisal team employee took the elevator. When he got on the elevator, when he wanted to open it, it couldn't be opened. The elevator died," Yudi told reporters at the location, Friday, July 22.
Another employee who was on site noticed that someone was in the elevator when the machine was not working. Suddenly they immediately helped by opening the elevator door.
"One of the employees who tried to save it by forcibly opened it. After it was forced open, it opened a little. Let some air in," he said.
"There was one officer who contacted the damkar. After being contacted, after Friday, at 12.30 WIB. The fire brigade (Damkar) came here," he continued.
South Jakarta firefighters, totaling five people, immediately tried to open the elevator door. However, the officers previously asked the building owner's permission to force open the door of the electric propulsion device.
"So that they get permission, someone is responsible, the elevator is broken, after it is allowed, the fire department opens it by force using the elevator machine. It took 2 hours for the mother to finally get out of the elevator," he said.
Meanwhile, South Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-department officer, Agus Sukoco, said that five officers were involved in the elevator incident. It received the report at 12.30 WIB. Then the evacuation was completed at 13.05 WIB.
"Forcibly opened using a combi tool because manual unlocking cannot be opened maximally, it only opens 20 centimeters wide and the victim can be saved," he concluded.
