PGI Asks For Independent Investigation Team To Investigate Murder In Nduga Papua That Killed Pastor

JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Churches (PGI) expressed deep concern and condolences regarding the deaths of 10 people and 2 critical people, including Eliaser Baner (54), Pastor of the Indonesian Gospel Camp Church.

The victim is thought to have died as a result of shooting during an attack by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Nogolait Village, Keneyam District, Nduga Regency, Papua, Saturday, July 16 yesterday.

PGI said that various policies have been carried out to improve development in Papua. However, there are still human killings in the Land of Papua. I don't know who the real culprit is.

PGI also conveyed its condolences to the civil society in the attack carried out by the KKB.

"Requesting the government to form an independent investigation team to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the killings of civilians in Nogolait Village, Keneyam District, Nduga Regency, Papua," PGI wrote in a written statement, Monday, July 18.

PGI said it had encouraged churches in Papua to continue to carry out humanitarian efforts as necessary for the people of Nogolait Village, Keneyam District, Nduga Regency and surrounding areas.

PGI also encourages the TNI/Polri to take steps to prevent the possibility of similar killings in the future.

"And together with all elements of society create a peaceful society with a cultural approach," he continued.

PGI also encourages the humanitarian coalition to continue to make efforts as necessary in order to reveal facts and advocate for humanity in Papua in the future.
