DKI Jakarta Level 3 Transmission Of COVID-19 Transmission, DPR: This Is An Alarm To Be Vigilant, Don't Take It Lightly

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives Commission IX Rahmad Handoyo assessed that the World Health Organization (WHO)'s determination of level 3 community transmission of COVID-19 transmission in DKI Jakarta Province is an alarm for all parties to be vigilant.

According to him, the increase in cases should not be taken lightly by all parties.

"I think this is an alarm, so the central government, especially the regional government, also tells all parties that we must act with vigilance," said Rahmad Handoyo to reporters, Sunday, July 17. "Don't take it lightly, don't assume that this is normal, especially that WHO has determined or assessed an assessment that level 3 is a moderate level with a referral per 100,000 people who are exposed to COVID-19 per day," he continued.

Handoyo reminded that the government did not take this WHO warning lightly.

The government, he said, should think about starting to pull the brake lever related to health protocols in Indonesia.

"We should not take this as a light or trivial note. We consider this an alarm warning sounded by the WHO for the DKI Jakarta Government and all levels to increase vigilance. Starting to pull the brake lever, which we used to use gas and brake, we now need to use our brake lever. pull it out, so that the medium level situation doesn't get bigger," he urged.

The PDIP politician admitted that level 3 is indeed dominated by the Omicron variant.

Although Omicron does not burden the hospital, said Rahmad, the government should not consider this a normal occurrence.

"It must be admitted that the death rate is not high compared to Delta, but I think this attitude must be put forward, not to be taken lightly, but to be treated with caution," he said.

The Central Java legislator appealed for President Jokowi's orders to return to masks to be carried out by all parties.

He also asked the government to maintain tracking and tracing again. In addition, it is necessary to start considering raising the level of PPKM in Jabodetabek in relation to the WHO warning.

"Is it necessary or not the PPKM level? Why not increase the level, even though it has implications for the economy, but we also have to understand better to prepare an umbrella before it rains, even though our immunity is already quite formed in DKI and its surroundings, I think it needs to be considered to increase the level," concluded Rahmad.
