Abandoned By The Owner Praying In Musala, Toyota Avanza Burns Due To Short Circuit

JAKARTA - The Trenggalek Regency Fire Department, East Java managed to extinguish the flames that burned a Toyota Avanza car registration number AD 1170 HD belonging to Suyatmin when the driver stopped by the prayer room in the Durenan District to perform the Isha prayer, Friday night at around 22.00 WIB.

"The fire occurred in the courtyard of the Tarmihim prayer room, Tugubancang Hamlet, Durenan Village, Durenan District, Trenggalek," said Head of the Trenggalek Regency PP Police Unit, Triadi Atmono, in Trenggalek, East Java, quoted by Antara, Saturday.

There were no casualties in the incident. Suyatmin, the driver of the multipurpose car, was in the prayer room. "I just entered the prayer room to pray, and suddenly I heard the sound of a car horn ringing (continuously/repeatedly)," he said when asked for information by the police.

He rushed out to look into the courtyard of the prayer room to see his vehicle. "I was surprised because I saw white smoke was billowing out of the hood of the car. The fire had started to come out (blazing)," he continued.

In that panic situation, he spontaneously ran towards the vehicle and pulled out the key that was previously still hanging stuck in the ignition key slot in the car. He also tried to retrieve his cellphone which was left in the vehicle.

"Because the fire was getting bigger and bigger, I finally (decided) chose to stay away from the vehicle," he said.

The flames quickly spread and burned all over the car. He had screamed for help while continuing to try to extinguish the fire by pouring water. People came to help.

But instead of being extinguished, the fire just got hotter.

Not long after, two fire trucks from the Trenggalek Satpol PPK who received reports from residents came to make efforts to extinguish the fire using complete fire extinguishers.

It took 75 minutes for the fire to be extinguished. But at that time the condition of the car had been burned out. From the results of the police investigation, the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit or short circuit.
