Angkot Route Cengkareng - City On Fire, No Passengers Become Victims
JAKARTA - A city transportation (Angkot) with police number B-1366-WV (Angkot) on the Cengkareng-Kota route caught fire. The fire is thought to have originated from a short circuit in the vehicle's battery.
The angkot driver, Rama said he knew his vehicle caught fire on Friday, July 15, at around 16.00 WIB.
"It is suspected that there is a short circuit in the engine battery," said Rama when met in the Pesing area, West Jakarta, Friday, July 15.
He explained that the incident began when he smelled the smell of burning and smoke on his car seat. After that, he tried to find water at a nearby shop, to extinguish the fire.
"It didn't take long for the smoke to come out, when I wanted to get water at the shop, it was already big. It happened really fast," he said.
Luckily when his car caught fire, he was not carrying passengers. The loss is estimated at Rp 100 million.
"Thank God there were no passengers. The loss is estimated at hundreds of rupiah," he concluded.
On site monitoring, one firefighter unit and several officers were dispatched. They tried to put out the fire. Until finally the fire was extinguished at 16:28 WIB.
The incident resulted in the obstruction of traffic flow from the direction of Cengkareng, West Jakarta to Muara Angke, North Jakarta.
