JAKARTA - The state-owned construction company, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has almost completed the project on the Semantok Dam in Nganjuk, East Java, where the progress has reached 95.87 percent.

Operations Director I Hutama Karya Gunadi said that after obtaining the inundation permit through the Dam Safety Commission plenary session on June 28 last. And right on Wednesday, July 13, the impounding ceremony or the initial inundation of the Semantok Dam was held.

"The construction work of this dam began in December 2017 and was built for the irrigation needs of 1,900 hectares of rice fields, and is expected to increase agricultural output in the surrounding area, grow a new business ecosystem, increase tourism and create a green environment," Gunadi said in a written statement, Friday, July 15. .

Gunadi further explained, the construction progress of the Semantok Dam construction has generally reached 95.87 percent for all work packages, 5 months faster than the initial plan. Meanwhile, the value of the Semantok Dam construction contract for Package 2 and Package 4 handled by Hutama Karya is Rp1.17 trillion.

Hutama Karya targets the completion of the construction of the Semantok Dam on time, with the right cost and with the right quality.

"The completion of exceeding the initial target is something to be grateful for, plus the Semantok Dam is called the longest in Southeast Asia because it has a peak length or dam crest of 3,100 meters or 3.1 km," he said.
