Member Of DKI DPRD Holds Children's Wedding Reception With Thousands Of Guests, Setu Babakan Closes

JAKARTA - Setu Babakan's Betawi Cultural Village Area Management Unit (UPKPBB) closed its area to tourists on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Setu Babakan was closed because it was the venue for the child wedding reception of a DKI DPRD member from the Gerindra faction, Purwanto.

"For the Kampung MH. Thamrin area and Bantaran Setu Babakan, the Betawi Cultural Village will be temporarily closed on Saturday, July 16, 2022," wrote the Instagram account upkpbb_setubabakan, quoted on Friday, July 15.

When contacted separately, Purwanto confirmed that his family used Setu Babakan for the wedding reception. They invited about 6,000 guests.

"There are 6,000 invitations, as an anticipation to keep it from getting crowded inside, while only invitations that enter are closed to the public. After all, Sunday is open again," said Purwanto.

From this activity, Purwanto said the road in front of the Setu Babakan area would be congested. Thus, he asked the general public not to cross Jalan RM. Kahfi II, Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Saturday from 08.00-24.00 WIB to avoid traffic jams.

Moreover, he continued, the public could still use six other alternative routes around Setu Babakan apart from using Jalan RM. Kahf II. Purwanto has also coordinated with the DKI Transportation Agency to regulate the traffic.

"There are many alternative routes there, no less than 6 alternative routes. Later, they will be directed, if you don't want to enter via Mohammad Kahfi II, an alternative route will be directed. Even if you have to pass, please be patient, because every event at Setu Babakan is always stuck in front of him," he explained.

At this reception, the Head of Jagakarsa Sub-district, Santoso even intervened. Santoso made a circular to the Srengseng Sawah Village Head asking residents to avoid Jalan RM. Kahfi II which is located in front of Setu Babakan starting at 08.00 to 24.00 WIB on Saturday. "I urge our residents, who cross the road, if disturbed, to use another route," said Santoso, yesterday.
