Menparekraf Promises To Promote Mamuju Specialty Ikat Ikat Weaving
MAMUJU - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno promised to help promote the typical woven fabric of Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi, namely the Sekomandi ikat weaving.
"We will help promote Sekomandi ikat weaving, as one of the local weaving products in Mamuju Regency," said Sandiaga Uno, while visiting the Sekomandi ikat weaving center, in Bambu Village, Mamuju Regency, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 14.
In addition to helping promote, Sandiaga Uno also said that he would help adapt the Sekomandi ikat weaving.
"We also encourage weavers to innovate because my experience in the business world has gone through so many crisis turbulence," he said.
"I see that Bunga's mother, as the weaver of this Sekomandi tie cloth, can be provided with training and assistance," said Sandiaga Uno.
Moreover, he continued, the Sekomandi ikat cloth was already known in San Francisco, United States.
The Menparekraf also hopes that Sekomandi ikat weaving can be included in the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement (Gernas BBI).
"We hope, with the help of all parties, including the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and the banking sector, we can include the Sekomandi ikat house in the BBI Gernas," he said.
"So, at the opening of the BBI Gernas in West Sulawesi, the Acting Governor, you can insert a little Sekomandi woven ornament as part of our appreciation for local woven products," said Sandiaga Uno.
Meanwhile, Sekomandi Bungalia weavers expressed their gratitude for the visit of Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno at his Sekomandi weaving center.
He hoped that through the visit of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, he could help the marketing of Sekomandi ikat fabrics.
"Through the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy's visit, I hope for assistance, both from the government and the banking sector. We also hope for assistance in marketing this Sekomandi woven fabric," said Bungalia.
In addition to visiting the Sekomandi weaving center, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno will also open the 2022 Manakarra Fair which will be held on the occasion of Mamuju's 482nd Anniversary at the Manakarra Beach Pavilion on Thursday night.
