Kemendikbudristek Encourages Merger Of Schools With Few Students
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) encourages schools that have few students to be merged.
"The central government encourages the merger of small schools, but the implementation is in the local government," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Suharti, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 14.
He added that there is no target on how many schools will be merged this year, because it depends on the situation on the ground.
Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Anang Ristanto, said that according to Law no. 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government, the management of primary and secondary education is the authority of the regional government.
"So for the guidance and supervision and management of this education is the authority of the regional government," said Anang.
There are a number of schools with minimal students in the country, including SDN 206 Putraco Indah Bandung, SDN 217 Sarijadi Bandung, SDN 217 Cidadap Bandung, to a number of schools in Madiun and Gunungkidul.
