Indonesia Shows Real Actions On Energy Transition To The G20 Sherpa Delegation
MANGGARAI BARAT - The Indonesian government exhibited concrete actions in the green energy transition to delegates attending the Second G20 Sherpa Meeting in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
The first action was shown by planting corals at Ayana Pier, Labuan Bajo and involving the G20 delegates directly.
In that activity -- as reported by Antara -- each delegation attached a coral to an iron that was assembled in a round shape. The attached corals are coral species that are widely found around Labuan Bajo.
The second action was to show the delegates the results of the construction of a solar power plant (PLTS) in the form of hundreds of solar panels on the hill of Messah Island.
Messah Island PLTS is able to illuminate the homes of around 1,300 families or about 3,000 residents on the island.
The existence of this clean energy infrastructure is very useful for the local community, most of whom have a livelihood as fishermen.
Previously, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that Indonesia's G20 Presidency carried three main topics, namely inclusive health management, digital-based transformation, and the transition to sustainable energy.
Indonesia will encourage all G20 members to take a concrete role in actively participating in doing these three things optimally.
These three things will encourage fellow G20 members to collaborate. The President believes that reaching a consensus will improve world conditions, especially in facing future world challenges.
"Indonesia encourages G20 countries to take concrete actions," he said.
The President wants breakthroughs that become solutions to every problem facing the world in the future as a positive impact of Indonesia's G20 Presidency.
"Indonesia will continue to encourage the G20 countries to produce major breakthroughs. This is to ensure that the world community can feel the positive impact of this cooperation," he said.
The Second G20 Sherpa Meeting in Labuan Bajo from 10 to 13 July 2022 was attended by delegates from 19 G20 member countries, 9 invited countries, and 10 international organizations. One of the G20 member countries that attended virtual was the United States.
