Victims Of Natural Disasters In Ambon 2 Children, One Of Them Avalanched His Own House

AMBON - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that the floods and landslides that occurred in Ambon City had caused two people to die and five people to be injured.

Head of BPBD Ambon City, Demy Paais, said that one of the victims, a four-year-old child, died due to a landslide in his house.

Meanwhile, one seven-year-old child died as a result of the flood that occurred on Friday, July 8​.

In addition, based on Antrara's report, Demmy said the natural disaster had forced two adults and two children to be hospitalized and one person had to be hospitalized.

Heavy rains that flushed the Ambon City area from June 19 to July 11, 2022 caused floods and landslides in the sub-districts of Nusaniwe, Sirimau, Ambon Bay, Ambon Baguala Bay and South Leitimur and affected 1,135 families consisting of 4,706 people.

According to Demy, the natural disasters that occurred in the sub-districts caused 831 houses and one hospital to be flooded, 79 houses were damaged, and 97 houses were threatened by landslides.

In addition, the landslide affected three schools and the flood caused damage to the embankment and embankment.

BPBD asked residents who live in mountain slopes and riverbanks to be aware of the possibility of flooding and landslides when heavy rains fall.

Residents are advised to submit reports regarding natural disasters in their area to BPBD through the nagari/village/kelurahan government officials.
