Two Candidates To Replace Lili Pintauli And Their Commitment To Corruption Eradication

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean said Lili Pintauli Siregar had submitted her resignation as Deputy Chair of the KPK since the end of last June.

The resignation was carried out when the KPK Supervisory Board investigated the alleged ethical violation committed by Lili after receiving accommodation and MotoGP tickets from PT Pertamina (Persero).

Hatorangan Panggabean said that the replacement for Lili Pintauli Siregar as Deputy Chair of the KPK is in the hands of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This is in accordance with the KPK Law Number 19 of 2019.

Based on article 33 of Law Number 19 of 2019, President Jokowi can propose a replacement name for Lili Pintauli Siregar to the Indonesian House of Representatives to immediately fill the vacant position.

President Jokowi was actually able to quickly get the names of Lili Pintauli Siregar's replacements from candidates for the leadership of the KPK who had carried out a fit and proper test at Commission III of the DPR RI in 2019.

The following reads Article 33 of Law Number 19 of 2019 as follows:

(1) In the event of a vacancy in the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission, the President of the Republic of Indonesia shall propose a candidate for a replacement member to the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia.

(2) The replacement members as referred to in paragraph (1) shall be selected from the candidates for the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission who were not elected in the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, as long as they still meet the requirements as stipulated in Article 29.

(3) Substitute members of the Corruption Eradication Commission's leadership as referred to in paragraph (1) shall continue the remaining term of office of the replaced Corruption Eradication Commission's leadership.

The names of potential replacements for Lili Pintauli

In 2019, Commission III of the DPR selected ten names and five of them were appointed as KPK leaders with Firli Bahuri as the chairman. Here are the names and the votes based on voting.

From the order of votes, the names of Sigit Danang Joyo and Lutfi Jayadi Kurniawan are the strongest candidates to fill the position of Lili Pintauli Siregar who resigned.

Sigit Danang Joyo

When he registered as a KPK candidate, he served as Head of the Sub-Directorate of Legal Aid, Directorate General of Taxes, Ministry of Finance. Sigit is known to have been a member of the implementation team of the Tax Reform Team which was formed by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati in 2016.

When he was selected for Commission III, Sigit was one of the people who supported the revision of the KPK Law which at that time became a controversy in the community. Sigit also stated that the revision of the KPK Law was needed to strengthen the function of the anti-corruption agency in eradicating corruption. According to him, when the authority of SP3 is given to the KPK, investigators will be more careful in determining suspects.

He added, without SP3, investigators can make mistakes in carrying out their duties. The use of SP3 must be reorganized so as not to violate all procedures carried out to identify suspects. Lutfi Jayadi Kurniawan

Luthfi Jayadi is a Lecturer in Social Welfare at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Luthfi is known as an anti-corruption activist in Malang City and is the founder of Malang Corruption Watch (MCW).

Lutfi was called a candidate for leadership of the KPK who was brave and innovative when he underwent a selection at Commission III of the 2019 DPR. Lutfi is confident in finding the perpetrators of corruption, including in the TNI.

Lutfi said every agency has loopholes to commit corruption if the supervision is not strict, including the TNI which has never been touched by the KPK.

Therefore, Lutfi emphasized that the TNI and all other state institutions must be treated equally.
