Bareskrim Polri Investigate Alleged Misappropriation Of ACT Funds

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has intervened to investigate allegations of misappropriation of funds or donations by the charity Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT). Currently, the process is still in the investigation stage.

"The investigation is still in progress," said the Director of Special Economic Crimes at the National Police, Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan, when contacted, Wednesday, July 6.

According to Whisnu, the opening of the investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds was based on the results of an intelligence analysis submitted by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).

There are findings from the community and the Police regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds.

"Reports from the public and the findings of the police in the field are the basis for investigators to investigate the alleged ACT case," he said.

However, when asked about the findings of the Police in the allegations that indicated that there was indeed a criminal violation, Whisnu was reluctant to comment. The reason is that the investigation is still ongoing.

"Patience, still in the process of investigation (investigation)," said Whisnu.

ACT is a humanitarian organization that collects donations to help others affected by disasters or calamities.

However, recently there has been an issue of ACT misuse of donations. Tempo magazine reported that it was suspected that the donations were used for the personal interests of the leadership.
