Palembang District Court Judge Sentenced 2 PUPR Service Officials Muba Herman Mayori And Eddi Umari 4.5 Years In Prison

PALEMBANG - The panel of judges at the Palembang District Court sentenced two former PUPR officials of the Musi Banyuasin (Muba) Regency to 4.5 years in prison each in a bribery case for the construction of four projects in 2021.

The verdict was handed down by the Panel of Judges for former Head of PUPR Service Muba Herman Mayori and former Head of PUPR SDA/PPK Muba Eddi Umari in a trial at the Palembang District Court, South Sumatra, Antara, Tuesday, July 5.

Chief Judge Yoserizal stated that apart from being sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison, Edi Umari and Herman Mayori were also fined Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison.

According to the judge, the sentence was given based on the legal facts obtained at the trial.

"The defendant is proven legally and convincingly to have received a gift or promise to do something that is contrary to his obligations as a civil servant together and continues as the first indictment of the public prosecutor," said the judge.

The demands are as referred to in Article 12 letter (a) of Law (UU) number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the 1st Criminal Code, Article 64 of the 1st Criminal Code.

"I hereby order the defendants (Edi Umari and Herman Mayori) to remain in custody," said the judge.

Meanwhile, the defendants Edi Umari and Herman Mayori who listened to the verdict online from the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, stated that they were thinking about the verdict of the panel of judges.

Previously, in the trial, the Panel of Judges also sentenced the defendant Dodi Reza Alex as the former Regent of Muba.

The defendant Dodi was sentenced to 6 years in prison, a fine of IDR 250 million, a subsidiary of 5 months in prison for the alleged bribery case of working on four projects at the local district PUPR Service in 2021.

In addition, the defendant Dodi was also required to pay compensation of Rp1.16 billion.

The compensation payment must be completed within 1 month, if it is not sufficient, the defendant's property will be confiscated to be auctioned off, or replaced with an additional 1 year imprisonment.

The sentence was given as the first indictment of the public prosecutor, namely violating Article 12 letter (a) of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code. , Article 65 of the Criminal Code.

The defendant Dodi Reza Alex stated that he was thinking about the verdict from the panel of judges.
