Viral Ambush Of The Perpetrators Of Confinement In Sunter, Had Asked For A Ransom Of IDR 50 Million

JAKARTA - The police stated that the perpetrators of the confinement, which went viral on social media because their vehicle was surrounded by residents, had actually asked for a ransom of Rp. 50 million. The perpetrator brought a teenage girl with the initials CAT (16).

"The reported (perpetrator, ed) also asked for a ransom of Rp. 50 million," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Tuesday, July 5.

The arrest began when the victim, CAT (16), said goodbye to her parents when she was about to go to a mall in the West Jakarta area, Monday, July 4.

A few hours later, the victim's parents got a phone call. Apparently, the perpetrator named Rony who contacted him. The perpetrator said that CAT had been with him and asked for a ransom of Rp. 50 million.

In fact, the perpetrator took all of the victim's valuables. The perpetrators also drained the contents of his savings which contained Rp. 5 million.

"The perpetrator took the victim's belongings in the form of cellphones, money and bags. Previously, the reported forced the victim to take cash at an ATM," said Zulpan.

Panic, the victim's parents immediately reported the incident. Police also mapped the whereabouts of the perpetrators.

"The team was in pursuit of the perpetrator who was driving towards Jalan Raya Sunter, while pursuing the perpetrator, he drove fast and hit several people's motorbikes," said Zulpan.

Previously, a video circulated on social media showing a group of residents surrounding a car in the Sunter area, North Jakarta. The driver of the car is called a fugitive from the police.

Based on the video uploaded to the Instagram account @zonasuntergoesto, it appears that a black car is surrounded by residents. Several people were seen destroying the car.

In the upload, it is written that the driver of the car used a firearm (senpi). In addition, it was also written that the driver of the car hit several motorbikes.

Confirming this matter, Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Hengki Haryadi said the driver of the car was the perpetrator of the confinement case who was being chased by the police. This incident occurred on Monday, July 4th.

"Then we arrested the case of confinement and fought back, they went against the current and hit several victims," said Hengki.
