FIA Offers Jakarta To Hold 2 Days Formula E Race In 2023, Committee: Not Sure To Take It

JAKARTA - The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) or the World Automotive Federation has issued a provisional calendar for Formula E racing for the ninth season next year.

In the temporary calendar, it is recorded that the Formula E race schedule in Jakarta will be held for 2 days, namely on June 3 and 4, 2023.

When confirmed, VP Communication Organizing Committee Formula E Jakarta, Iman Sjafei said the new two-day race schedule was just an offer by the FIA to Jakarta. BUMD PT Jakpro as the organizer and the committee has not yet decided whether to accept the two-day race.

"It's not necessarily taken because the final decision from Jakarta hasn't come out yet. Actually, this is only provided by the FIA if Jakarta can take two days. But the final confirmation is with us," said Iman when contacted, Monday, July 4.

Iman said, Jakarta still has time to choose the race to only be held for one day or agreed to take two days. Given, the confirmation deadline to set a race schedule is still two months away, namely in September 2022.

Moreover, he continued, the Formula E Jakarta committee which was held in Ancol on June 4 last year has been disbanded and has not been re-formed.

"The committee or OC looks like it will be a new committee, but I don't know whether there are old people or new ones. The committee yesterday has been disbanded," he said.

Judging from the posting of the temporary Formula E 2023 calendar on the fiaformulae Instagram account, the first city that will hold a race as the ninth season opener is Mexico City, Mexico, on January 14, 2023. The ninth season race closes in London, England on July 30, 2023.
