Democrat: PKB-Gerindra Coalition Opens Third Axis Opportunity

JAKARTA - The Democratic Party (PD) respects the agreement between PKB and Gerindra which built a coalition for the 2024 presidential election. According to him, these two parties have already pocketed tickets to carry the presidential candidate in the upcoming election.

"This coalition of two parties is enough to get tickets for the 2024 presidential election, passing the threshold of 20 percent of seats in the DPR," said Deputy for Bappilu for the Democratic Party, Kamhar Lakumani, to reporters, Friday, July 1.

According to Kamhar, the formation of the PKB and Gerindra coalition opens the opportunity for the presence of a third axis in the 2024 presidential election. This means, he said, there will be more than two pairs of candidates in 2024.

"The formation of this coalition opens the opportunity that the coalition axis that will be built in 2024 will be more than two," he said.

"It means that it is almost certain that the 2024 presidential election contestation will be followed by more than two pairs of candidates," continued Kamhar.

Kamhar said that the Democratic Party had also cooperated with Gerindra and PKB so far. In fact, he said, Democrats also have similarities with the two parties regarding Indonesia in the future.

"The Democratic Party has also established communication with these two parties. With Cak Imin and with Pak Prabowo. There is an understanding that Indonesia needs change," said Kamhar.

As previously reported, the Gerindra Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB) held another meeting called the National Gathering in the Kwitang area, Senen, Central Jakarta, Thursday, June 30, evening.

This national gathering is a continuation of the meeting between the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto and the General Chairperson of the PKB Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) in Kertanegara some time ago. It is hoped that the two parties will become more familiar with themselves and lead to a cooperation agreement.

"This is a continuation to familiarize the Gerindra party and PKB at the provincial and DPD levels. We call it DPD, PKB call it DPW," said Gerindra Party Secretary General Ahmad Muzani after the meeting, Thursday, June 30.

Muzani said there were no obstacles in the efforts of his party to cooperate with PKB.

"Everyone has the same perception. Because of that, we feel like we have friends, we get the spirit," he said.

"Anyway, we are currently formulating a future Indonesia in the 2024 election, so that the cooperation between PKB, the relationship between PKB and Gerindra, which is currently being initiated at the provincial level, can be effective in achieving victory," continued Muzani.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairperson of the PKB, Jazilul Fawaid, said that this gathering continued the communication that had been carried out by the general chairmen. Thus, the cooperation that exists between the two parties can be accepted down to the bottom. Cooperation from the bottom up, continued Jazilul, is needed because these two parties want to win the 2024 General Election.

"If you mention the coalition, of course in the end you want to win. Well, if you have a match or get married, you end up having children. In the end, the coalition must want to win," he said.

"So don't think this is tahlilan. This is a forum for friendship. In politics it's called a coalition," added Jazilul.
