Will Compete With Thailand's Champion, Ongen Saknosiwi Wants To Maintain An Unbeaten Record In The Boxing Ring
JAKARTA – Indonesian boxer Ongen Saknosiwi is at his maximum ahead of the duel against Jirawat Thammachot at Balai Sarbini, Jakarta, on Friday, July 1 tomorrow. He is optimistic that he can maintain an unbeaten record.
The duel between Ongen and Jirawat was one of the highlights of the main match of Indonesian boxer Daud Jordan in an effort to defend the Asian Boxing Council Silver Super Lightweight (63.5 kg) title against Panya Uthok.
"My preparation is maximum and I am ready to fight for the tenth time. I am sure I will be able to win this match in my own country," Ongen said in a press conference on Wednesday, June 30.
The boxer from Maluku has not suffered a single defeat from the nine matches he has played since his debut in 2016. He even made a record of seven knockout victories in between.
His most recent knockout win was on March 4 recently against Rattakorn Tassaworn. At that time, the boxer born in 1994 made his opponent give up in the fourth round to bring home the WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight title (57.1 kg).
This capital makes Ongen confident in tomorrow's match. However, Jirawat doesn't want to be the butt of a match even though they have to compete with away status.
"I am very happy to be present at this event and tomorrow I will try to fight. Tomorrow I will fight and hopefully I can succeed," said Jirawat.
On paper, Jirawat is quite superior in experience because she has 12 fights (three losses) compared to Ongen's nine. In addition, he is four years younger than Onge.
However, so far, Jirawat has only faced local friends. That contrasts with the records that Ongen has made against several international boxers.
