Rolling Stone Collaborates With BAYC Yuga Labs Launches Second NFT Collection
JAKARTA – The rise of collaboration between NFT creators and other parties such as celebrities is common nowadays. Brands to well-known magazines also don't want to be left behind. One of them is Rolling Stone, a popular music magazine from San Francisco, United States.
This time, Rolling Stone collaborated with Yuga Labs owned by Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) to launch its newest NFT collection. This news has been circulating since last week. Previously, there were physical print sales of two Rolling Stone and BAYC cover art. In addition, there is an auction for two NFTs of the same design in the animated version.
The sale of physical prints of Rolling Stone and BAYC was carried out directly on June 22. The two physical prints are sold at the BAYC store. Meanwhile, the auction runs on the NFT marketplace, OpenSea. Both these prints and their NFTs can be purchased with APEcoin.
The designs and images used in both use BAYC's signature character, namely ape, the mascot of Bored Ape. But this mascot is an unofficial character named Curtis. Not only the ape mascot is used, Rolling Stone's signature writing logo is also emblazoned on the two prints.
The first prints showed Curtis relaxing in a hammock, a hammock sitting on a pier of the Bored Ape Clubhouse. The second design depicts Curtis' partner, a Mutant Ape flying from a slimy volcano on a motorcycle.
Quoted from NFT Evening, the sale for the physical print of the two works of art lasted for four hours. Meanwhile, the NFT auctioned at OpenSea lasts for three days. The auction of this work was a huge success. The Curtis NFT physical print sells for 22,696,969 APE or about 103 thousand dollars. The NFT itself was sold at a price of 42,106.05 APE or around 191 thousand dollars.
The collaboration of these two well-known companies attracted many fans and was a huge success. This collaboration is the second time. In the future, it is possible that Rolling Stone and BAYC will collaborate again given their success in sales and auctions in this second collaboration.
