KORMI Kaltara Drops 154 Athletes In FORNAS VI Palembang, This Is The Target
JAKARTA - A total of 154 athletes of the Indonesian Community Recreational Sports Committee (KORMI) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Province are ready to compete in the 2022 National Recreation Sports Festival (FORNAS). With this number, Kaltara is in position 28 of 34 provinces in sending the number of athletes.
This year's FORNAS will take place in Palembang from July 1 to 7, 2022. Apart from Kaltara, other contingents from various regions have also started arriving to the capital of South Sumatra.
The Kaltara contingent went to Palembang after being released by the Governor of Kaltara Drs H Zainal A Paliwang SH M.Hum. The release was accompanied by the Chairman of KORMI Kaltara as well as the Deputy Governor of Kaltara, Dr. Yansen TP M.Si at the Ball Room of the Tarakan Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, June 28 yesterday.
The release of the KORMI Kaltara contingent was marked by the installation of hats by the Governor and the symbolic installation of jackets by the Head of KORMI Kaltara to the contingents of participants.
The governor explained that the purpose of FORNAS was to invite people to like sports and cultivate a healthy lifestyle. "And I am grateful because with this activity the public is increasingly interested in sports and many are contested," said Zainal.
At FORNAS V in 2019, Kaltara was in 11th place after getting 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 7 bronze medals. Therefore, for the VI FORNAS, the Kaltara contingent is targeted to improve its position.
Zainal said he was optimistic that the contingent from Kaltara could achieve the best FORNAS achievement this year. He hopes that all athletes can bring home medals from 21 Inorga which were chosen by KORMI Kaltara.
"If 3 gold medals can be placed in 11th place, hopefully we can get 10 gold medals to enter the top 5," hoped Zainal.
At the same time, the Head of KORMI Kaltara, Dr. Yansen TP, M.Si expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Kaltara who has a firm commitment to support the envoy from this youngest province in FORNAS VI.
"Kaltara's participation in FORNAS which is held every year, today I invite all of us to express our deepest gratitude to the Governor of Kaltara. Where today we see how the role of the North Kalimantan Provincial Government to KORMI," he said.
For this reason, he hopes that with this support, athletes who compete will prepare themselves, both physically and mentally, by exerting their best abilities.
"This is the first step to prove we can, to prove we are champions on the real battlefield," he explained.
Of the total 154 athletes who departed 108 of them were funded by KORMI, while 46 athletes who departed were using independent funds. Included in the group were officials, health workers and the media as many as 13 people.
