AMA Missionary Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Keerom Papua: Severely Damaged Condition, 7 Passengers Safe

PAPUA - An aircraft belonging to an Associated Mission Aviation (AMA) missionary with flight code PK-RCQ, was seriously damaged after an emergency landing in Molof Village, Senggi District, Keerom Regency, Papua, today.

Papuan Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri, said all seven passengers on the plane were safe.

The incident began when the PK-RCQ aircraft experienced weather disturbances on the Sentani-Oksibil flight, Bintang Mountains Regency. As a result, the plane turned back towards Senggi Airport.

"But due to a lack of fuel, the plane made an emergency landing on Km 37 road at PT Batasan Dharma Timber, Kampung Molof, Senggi District", Paulus explained in Jayapura, Antara, Tuesday, June 28 evening.

The plane piloted by Cesar had an incident at around 13.00 WIT and due to an emergency landing, the plane was heavily damaged. Currently, the six passengers have been evacuated to Sentani, Jayapura Regency, while the pilot Cesar is still in Senggi, explained Fakhiri.

He added that on Wednesday, a team from the AMA and KNKT will visit the scene of the accident.

"Members of the Keerom Police, Tuesday afternoon, have gone to the TKP and will conduct the TKP", explained the Papuan Police Chief.
