Everything Everywhere All At Once Film Review: A Picture Of The Complexity Of A Mother With The Best Visual
JAKARTA - The production house A24 presents a film by the duo Daniels (Dan Kwan, Daniel Scheinert) entitled Everything Everywhere All At Once. The film, starring Michelle Yeoh, was produced by the Russo brothers who are known for a number of Marvel films.
Everything Everywhere All At Once tells the twists and turns of Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh) who takes care of the laundry business with her husband, Waymond (Ke Huy Quan). They also have a child named Joy (Stephanie Hsu) who is starting to grow up.
Evelyn's days were always busy. But one day, Evelyn is confused because she has to report her threatened business taxes, she and Waymond meet Deirdre (Jamie Lee Curtis) the tax officer who is very strict.
Not only that, Evelyn is also preparing to welcome her father, Gong Gong (James Hong). Everything changed when Waymond asked Evelyn to carry out instructions on a piece of paper.
Waymond believes Evelyn is the one who can fix the destruction of the universe and fight Jobu Tupaki, an evil master who wants to destroy the world.
With a duration of two and a half hours, Everything Everywhere All At Once presents a multiverse and layers of diverse genres. From the very beginning, the audio and visuals supported the majesty of this film.
The audience does not need to think much and just enjoy the element of surprise that is present in the film. The story itself is very complex even though the setting takes the dynamics of an immigrant family in the United States. The scene shifts are very coherent and pleasing to the eye. Once again, supported by very beautiful visuals.
Unknowingly we will be carried away with Evelyn's thoughts and her relationship with Joy. One side explodes on the other is touching and understandable to the audience. The multiverse layer that brings the relationship between the two is boisterous and fun.
Regarding acting, Michelle Yeoh - Ke Huy Quan - Stephanie Hsu performed their best. The presence of supporting actors such as Jamie Lee Curtis and Harry Shum Jr. able to provide peace in the midst of the complexities of Evelyn's life.
Still, the main stars are Michelle Yeoh and Stephanie Hsu who are the focus of the film. Michelle Yeoh may not be a new name, but this film highlights her perfectly in terms of her kung fu acting and choreography. This proves that Michelle Yeoh's experience in films cannot be doubted. Meanwhile, Stephanie Hsu was present as a surprise which added to the excitement of the film many times over.
Everything Everywhere All At Once will add to the best memories of watching cinema and this film can be seen in all Indonesian cinema networks.
