Bogor City DPRD Supports Bima Arya Seals Elvis Cafe Ex Holywings: Permanently Closed If Needed
JAKARTA - The Bogor City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) supports the city government in sealing Elvis Cafe, the former Holywing cafe, which was caught storing hundreds of bottles of liquor with an alcohol content of 40 percent.
The chairman of the DPRD for the City of Bogor, Atang Trisnanto, said that the parliament supports the steps taken by the Bogor City Government to firmly re-close the cafe, which was previously when it was still Holywings, and was warned not to sell liquor like in other cities.
"We support it, if necessary it can be permanently closed because it has violated the rules several times. There is no dispensation for sellers of alcoholic beverages and violates the regulations in force in Bogor City," said Atang, Monday 27 June.
According to Atang, the presence of Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2021 concerning Public Order, which includes articles regulating the circulation of alcoholic beverages, needs to be implemented firmly by the Bogor City Government.
"So this must be strengthened by regulations of regional heads and related regional apparatus, both the Satpol PP and the licensing service, to carry out enforcement," he said.
Previously, the Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya Sugiarto, during a direct inspection of the location, Saturday (25/6) stated that the sealing was carried out as a follow-up to reports from the public who were restless to see Holywings' promotional advertisement for liquor was carried out on his social media account.
Bima revealed that Elvis Cafe is still in the same company as Holywings. This was stated in the Holywings Indonesia social media account.
Hollywings, who promotes liquor through social media, makes Bima Arya want to ensure that the advertisement for the sale of prohibited goods applies in Bogor City as well as through Elvis Cafe, which has been proven to store hundreds of bottles of liquor whose alcohol content is above 40 percent.
The Mayor of Bogor also stated that he would seal Elvis Cafe for the next 14 days to evaluate the building permit and operating permit for the cafe.
The Bogor City Government prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages above five percent, namely class B which has a content of up to 20 percent and class C which has a content of above 20 percent to 55 percent, while below five percent is still allowed.
The regulation on alcoholic beverages under five percent also has a legal umbrella from the Bogor Mayor Regulation No. 48 of 2019, concerning Technical Guidelines for Controlling Alcoholic Drinks.
At the opening of the Holywings cafe, Thursday (10/2), cafe owner Ivan Tanjaya admitted that he did not think about profit and loss first when the concept of the restaurant and liquor business changed according to the rules of the Bogor City Government.
In a press conference held after the inauguration of the opening of Holywings Bogor, in the courtyard of the cafe with the Mayor of Bogor Bima Arya and the cafe's investor, Hotman Paris Hutapea, Ivan said he was happy to have been invited to discuss the concept of the City of Bogor and the possible businesses.
