How Many Roads Does Anies Baswedan Want To Change Into The Name Of A Betawi Figure?
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan admitted that he plans to increase the number of roads in Jakarta which will be renamed in addition to the 22 roads that have been changed to names of Betawi figures. Up to how much?
This was conveyed by Anies after holding a meeting with the Head of Traffic Police of the National Police Inspector General Pol Firman Santyabudi, Head of the DKI BPN Regional Office Dwi Budi Martono, President Director of PT Jasar Raharja Rivan Achmad Purwantono.
"This (change of street name) does not end here. This is wave one. We will continue it until it is finished," said Anies at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, June 27.
Anies revealed the urgency of changing the name of the street that he was doing. Anies admitted that he wanted to make Jakarta seen as a city that has many meritorious people.
"This will reflect in our city that there are many individuals who have contributed. This is a city where struggles are carried out and so many heroes and meritorious individuals gather," he said.
According to Anies, the most appropriate way is to immortalize their names as the names of Streets in Jakarta.
"We respect, remember, and inspire by perpetuating it and becoming a street name in Jakarta. Hopefully, Jakarta will increasingly reflect as a city that respects meritorious individuals and makes meritorious individuals an inspiration for future generations," Anies explained.

Furthermore, Anies denied the opinion of some parties that the change of 22 street names to the names of Betawi figures was a burden to the community.
