Veruntun Accident On Cipularang Toll Road Allegedly Due To Blong Bus Brakes
PURWAKARTA - The police suspect a series of accidents involving dozens of vehicles on KM 92+000 of the Cipularang Toll Road towards Jakarta on Sunday (26/6) night due to the bus having failed brakes.
Head of the Main Highway Patrol (PJR) for the Cipularang Toll Road AKP Denny Catur said the accident occurred when the Laju Prima Bus Nopol B 7602 XA, traveling from Bandung to Jakarta, hit several vehicles in front of it.
"It is suspected that the Laju Prima bus vehicle had a failed brake. So it hit the vehicle in front of it. This series of accidents involved several vehicles at once because the traffic situation was heavy at the time of the incident, considering that on Sundays there is usually an increase in traffic," he said as reported by ANTARA, Monday, 27 June.
As a result of the accident, three people were seriously injured and 16 people were slightly injured. The accident victim was immediately taken to the Abdul Radjak Hospital in Purwakarta.
The impact of the accident, there had been a density ahead of the scene. To reduce the density, at the discretion of the police, from 21.50 WIB to 23.34 WIB, a situational traffic diversion was carried out, namely vehicles headed for Jakarta were diverted out of East Padalarang, and then re-entered through the Jatiluhur Toll Gate.
Jasa Marga said in a press release that early Monday morning, the location of the incident had been cleared and traffic had returned to normal.
A number of vehicles involved in the accident were taken to the tow pool of the Jatiluhur Toll Gate.
