Floods Submerge Hundreds Of Houses In 3 Sub-districts Of Muara Enim, South Sumatra, The Water Level Touches 2 Meters
MUARA ENIM - The South Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that hundreds of houses in Muara Enim Regency were flooded with water levels reaching two meters high, Sunday, June 26.
South Sumatra BPBD Head of Emergency Management, Ansori, said that hundreds of houses affected by the flood were scattered in Tanjung Enim, Tanjung Agung and Muara Enim sub-districts.
Based on data from the Muara Enim disaster management operation control center team, from the three locations, the most flooded houses were in Tanjung Enim District, which was about 540 units.
"The location of the worst flooding was on Jalan Lingga 1 and Jalan Tanjung Bad, Tanjung Enim, which were inundated with water up to two meters high," he said in Palembang, Antara, Sunday, June 26.
For the other two sub-districts affected by the flood, there are three housing units, because they cover the mining and plantation industrial areas.
He explained that the flood occurred at around 01.00 WIB, which was caused by the overflow of the Enim River after it had been raining with high intensity since Saturday, June 26, at around 19.00 WIB.
From this incident, Muara Enim BPBD Officer, DPKP Muara Enim moved with PT SBS (mining) to evacuate flood victims who reached 543 families.
The flood victims, including mothers, children and the elderly, were evacuated by officers using rubber boats to a safer place.
"The current condition of the flood-affected areas has partially receded," he said
Until now, officers are still on standby at flood-affected locations to anticipate further flooding by establishing a command post.
