Asked About Gerindra's Chance For A Coalition With Democrats, Prabowo: There's Still Time, Last Minute Yes
JAKARTA - General chairman of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto said his meeting with the chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) had not discussed the 2024 general election, including the possibility of forming a coalition.
Prabowo said his meeting with AHY at his residence, Kertanegara, South Jakarta was only limited to establishing communication.
"We're talking about political communication. It's clear?! There's still a long time, one year. Usually in Indonesia it's the last minute, right," Prabowo told reporters, Friday, June 24 night.
Although the decision will be conveyed at the end but political communication must be carried out.
"Surely the last minute must start with, yes, yes, with friendship," said the Minister of Defense.
Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of a coalition, Prabowo refused to answer further. Instead, he asked the public to guess.
"It's okay, you guys guess. If I tell you, it's not fun. So you guys guess later," he said.
Previously reported, Prabowo said the Gerindra Party and the Democratic Party had the same vision and mission. This was conveyed after holding a closed meeting for two hours.
Meanwhile, AHY was honored to meet Prabowo. Moreover, from the meeting which lasted for about two hours there were a number of discussions carried out including global issues and the post-COVID-19 situation.
From the discussion, continued AHY, there are a number of common views.
"We also had discussions on various national and populist issues, where there are many common views," said AHY next to Prabowo.
"What is clear is that we want to continue to build good communication. Earlier, he said that there is always room for cooperation, especially if the goal is to present a good solution for this country," he concluded.
